Every December my family hosts a Yankee Swap / Pot Luck Dinner. I made Creme de Menthe brownies this year. And yes, I am not ashamed to say I did “box” the brownies, but there’s more to these than that!
You have to make the frosting (which is your standard milk, confectionary sugar and creme de Menthe mixture) – and then melt chocolate with butter and pour it overtop and let harden. As you can see I didn’t exactly accomplish an even layer of either, but remember this is a beginner’s blog!
From what I can see half of baking is about having the right ‘feel’ for things, whether it be pouring an equal amount of batter into two cake pans, or pouring even layers… only in time will these things come naturally and look perfect. ‘As long as they taste good’ is my motto 🙂
I just thought I’d share some of my earlier creations, if only to use it as a contrast to what I plan on being able to do over the next few months/years to come!
Oh and for the record- I’m sure there are those in the Baking community that would completely frown upon me for using boxed brownie mix- but I will say- I’ve had SO MANY BROWNIES from other people that were also boxed that were TERRIBLE! So, as much of a hack as it is, there’s still a way to be bad at it… and I can say for sure that I can at least pull off the easy stuff 😉
